For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given... Isaiah 9:6
For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten SON, that whosover believeth in HIM, should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
There are times LORD that I feel overwhelmed, as I scurry around trying to get the house cleaned, preparing the food ahead of time, getting the baking done, making pies, thinking of the gifts I still need to get, getting them wrapped, and so much more. There is so much to do and so little time left to do it. However, I just want to thank YOU LORD, for bringing these words to my attention a few minutes ago, “Have you forgotten what Christmas is all about?”, because I needed that wake up call.
MY dearest child, I want you to remember what Christmas is about. It is to remind you of the birth of MY only SON, JESUS. That is the reason for this time of the year. Yes, it is nice to give and receive presents and to get together with family. However, I am afraid that most people forget what Christmas really means. They have taken CHRIST out of the word, and substituted something else.
Of all the gifts that you give or receive this year, you will never be able to buy a gift that can be equalled to the cost of MY gift. MY gift to you was JESUS, and HE was given so that you could have life. Think of that verse in John 3:16. I loved you so much that I gave MY only SON, JESUS, so that HE could be born to die on the cross for your sins. When you received this gift for yourself, you were saved from the penalty of your sins. So this Christmas, be thankful for the birth of JESUS, but don’t let it stop there. Remind others that HE didn’t come just to be born, but HE came to die, to save HIS people from their sins.
Don’t get caught up in all the commercialism of Christmas, but instead, put your focus on what the real meaning of Christmas is.
My prayer: O FATHER, help me never to forget the real meaning of Christmas!
